Agents of MAGIC – Hogwarts Year 6: Lines Drawn and Lies Told 3.16

Danny year 6 avie1For the third time since entering his hidden study room, Danny double checked the table he had set. Gerti had helped him with the food, of course, but the rest of the arrangements he had seen to himself.

As the young man was turning the vase of flowers slightly to present a better view of the blooms to Rose, the doorway began to form with the bricks. Danny straightened his tie and turned to smile at Ambrosia.

The sight of Danny –tie, kilt, and all– after her long day of searching, hoping, waiting, and more searching, left Rose standing frozen in the doorway. She stared at him, barely able to take it all in, let alone find something intelligent to say.

Danny stepped around the table and offered his hand to Rose. “Happy birthday, hen.”

“Danny… I…” She took his hand, unaware that she was trem...

Rose year 6 avie1Danny woke early on Tuesday, well before the sun had come up. On an ordinary day he would still be sprawled under his covers, but today wasn’t an ordinary day. It was Valentines Day, and more importantly it was Ambrosia Sheridan’s birthday. And Danny had a plan.

Quietly he dug into his trunk and pulled out a heart-shaped card. He had been working on this for the last two weeks, and it was time to get things started. He had considered sending Monkey in to deliver the first note, but decided against it. He wanted to do it all himself, and he knew exactly how he would accomplish it.

With a slight twisting shudder, the Ravenclaw’s form morphed into that of a squirrel...

Céilidh year 6 avie1A sour mood gripped the Gryffindor common room. Ever since Tom, Céilidh and Bill returned the night before, it seemed like a squad of dementors had taken up residence in the tower.

“Well the professors were right,” Percy Weasley bounced on the balls of his feet importantly, “you can’t just sneak around this castle in the dead of night and end up breaking an ancient mirror without getting some kind of punishment.” He pushed his horn rimmed glasses up his face.

“Give it a rest Perce,” Bill said as he prodded a pawn to move forward on the chessboard, “I’m sure they feel bad enough already and they don’t need you making him feel worse.”

“I understand they are your friends Bill,” Percy said professorially, “but have you forgotten that Oliver Wood is in the hospital wing right now because of th...

Orlando year 6 avie1“This does not look good.” Bill sighed as he leaned against the fireplace in Professor McGonagall’s office, breaking the almost ten minutes of silence since they entered the room. “What were you three thinking?”

“Not exactly planning this, Bill.” Tom said with his head in his palms.

“Are you sure it was Liam? It was dark in there… could you have been mistaken?” Laun said, still making consistent eye contact with Tom.

“No, it was him.” Tom looked away toward the window. “I know it was.”

“That presents a problem,” Laun sighed, “I was standing closer to him than I am to you now and I am just as sure.”

“Oor wands wis lit.” Orlando wiped his sooty brow with the sleeve of his jumper. It smelled of smoke. “We keeked his face. He drew oan us an ken wha we wis. It wis the lad.”

Or was it? He re ...

Céilidh year 6 avie1“Whaur dae ye reck it gaes?” Lando inquired as she caught up with him.

“Weel…” She looked around, getting her bearings from the way they had come. The tunnel itself had gotten wider and taller since it had become lined with dirt and roots. “A reck we’re…” her lips puckered as if she had been chewing a lemon, “a wee bit intae the ferbiddin forest.”

Not watching where she was going, she ran into the back of the Hufflepuff who had stopped. “Whit?”

“Th’ path forks… ”

He cast lumos to get them a better look. His wand passed between the two options.

“Which wey dae we gae than?”

Foozle scratched at the bit of stubble on his chin. “This wey, ” he replied and went to the right. Hesitating just a moment, his sister followed suit.

They hadn’t gotten far before Céilidh stopped...

Tommy year 6 avie1Liam passed the three sixth years and turned the corner toward the main staircase.

The three gave each other a knowing glance, then immediately followed the Ravenclaw seventh year up the stairs. Lando’s camouflaging charm coupled with Tom’s silencing charm allowed the trio to readily maintain their tail on Liddell. They were able to follow so closely that they nearly ran square into their quarry when he suddenly stopped. Standing before an oddly located mirror, Liddell cast a furtive glance up one end of the hallway and down the other before muttering something.

His words were a sibilant stream that had a collective chilling effect on the three sixth years. The jumble of h and s sounds also had something of a commanding effect as the mirror Liddell faced slowly started to shimmer...

Laun year 6 avie“You know,” Bill said twirling his wand in between his fingers, “I thought this prefect thing would be terrific but these late night patrols really cut into study time.”

“I think they are fun! You get to see the ghosts wafting about and I feel kind of like a junior auror; sleuthing and protecting the general public! I don’t study that much anyways” Laun laughed as he used his dimly lit wand to make designs in the air.

“So is that what you’ve finally decided to do after school?” Bill yawned, “Go into Auror training?”

“I’m not sure yet, I may go into muggle studies actually. That’s something I’ve been thinking about.”

“Yeah?” Bill chuckled. “My dad would love that. He loves anything muggles,” Bill shrugged, “I don’t really get it myself.”

“I think they’re fascinating! You know they have a di...

Orlando year 6 avie1Though Hogwarts in February was certainly no isle of Crete, and there was–most likely–no large beast waiting at the end of the corridors to devour her, Rose couldn’t help but feel a tiny bit like Theseus as she worked on her latest assignment from Professor Qasim. Despite some lingering misgivings about the invasion of privacy, she tiny blonde had worked diligently to study a near-stranger’s life and connections.

Gilly Merrywater, a second year Ravenclaw, was a nice enough boy. He’d certainly felt no hesitation to talk with an older housemate about his family and friends while they’d studied near each other in the common room one night...

Danny year 6 avie1Tom sat at his usual corner seat in the library. He tapped his quill on the table as he waited for his appointment.

“Brither,” Danny said as he slid into a chair opposite the Gryffindor. “Sae whit dae ye hiv fer ideas?”

Tom gave Danny an evil grin, “Ah well sir,” he said in a haughty fake accent, “on today’s menu we have,” he flicked through a few pieces of parchment, “Leprechaun mummies?”

Danny cocked an eyebrow. “When did their luck run oot?” He pulled out a notebook of his own. “Whit aboot ‘Britain’s Secret School of Magic’?”

“Interesting…” Tom said as he nodded his head, “but where is it?”

Danny shrugged. “Ah dinnaekin, Wales? Camelot?”

“I like Camelot,” he held up his hands in front of him, “The Merlin School of Magical Mastery.”

The Ravenclaw added Tom’s notes and circled the entry...

Tommy year 6 avie1It was an uncharacteristically warm February day, as Lathan de Lancrét lounged like a king in front of his subjects. A blonde Slytherin seventh year girl lay giggling with her head lounging on his lap, as several other Slytherin boys, all younger, sat reverent around de Lancrét.

“And so I told the filthy little mudblood that if she didn’t keep her little mouth shut, I would use a permanent sticking charm on them.”

The assembled throng roared with laughter.

“I wish you would have done it anyway Lathan.” One of them said in between laughs.

“I thought about it,” He smiled, “But really, it would be a waste of spell energy. The stupid mudblood’s mouth flaps so much anyway, she would have broken the charm permanent or not.” This brought even more laughter.

“Hullo Lathan,” Tom sidled up to the ...
