Agents of MAGIC – Hogwarts Year 6: Ink and Rails 1.42

Rose year 6 avie1The problem with grand plans was actually having to put them into motion. It had seemed so easy in her mind. Girls sitting around talking about boys; it was simple. But actually getting the girls into her room for the brownies and bonding… well that was a little more difficult.

Her closest girl friends were all so different. Would they even want to hang out together? After all, Nic didn’t have a boy to talk about, that they knew of. Céilidh could talk about her boyfriend… but there was only so much she could say without scarring Cissy for life. That left Rose with talking about Bobby, a sure way to depress everyone in the room.

But still, the great girl night of nineteen eighty-eight had to start someplace...

Hogwarts-CrestWhether it was luck, fate, or just coincidence, Laun walked in front of Bobby on his journey through the Hogwarts halls to find him. “Laun!” he cried out for the Slytherin student wanting to get his attention and some advice on a personal matter. “Do you have a minute?” Bobby asked with a lingering hope inside.

Laun stopped in the hall and gave a bright smile, “What’s up Bobby boy?”

“I need some advice… relationship, advice…” he said with a low voice.

“Of course,” Laun threw his arm around Bobby, “what’s up?”

Bobby led Laun into a more private part of the hallways, “Rose and I are at odds lately, and I don’t know what to do about it… I try to get her to talk about last Summer and nothing...

Hogwarts-CrestThough Rose would be the first to admit that she hadn’t spent a lot of time in the Hufflepuff common room, she was always struck by the warm, welcoming feel. While her own rooms were more lofty and calming, the earthy comfort of her friend’s house was always a welcome change of pace. Snuggling down into one of the overstuffed arm chairs that probably weren’t entirely conducive for studying, she opened the potions book on her lap and waited for her companion to do the same.

Forster rummaged around his stack of books before finding his potions book. He skimmed through the table of contents before leaning back into the armchair. “You know,” he said as he flipped through the pages, “I’m more likely to catch a nap than pay attention right now.”

Reaching across the space between them, Rose swat...

Céilidh year 6 avie1Céilidh breathed in a heavy sigh. With the mountains of homework, the new quidditch practice schedule – sure she added two extra practices a week herself but who’s counting- and her still somewhat rough but getting better relationship with Tommy, Céilidh felt like she was not only burning the candle at both ends, but through the middle as well. The fire haired Gryffindor slammed her potions book shut, “A’m needin’ tae git oot o’ ‘ere or a’m gaun tae explode!”

“That doesn’t sound good,” Tom looked up at Céilidh from his spot on the floor across from her, “everything okay?”

“A’m needin’ tae relieve some stress Tommy,” she said pleadingly, “please git me th’ hell oot o’ her fur a while.”

“Where do you want to go?” He asked closing his own homework.

“Anywhere bit ‘ere,” she stood up and gra...

Hogwarts-CrestTommy, Céilidh, Orlando and Danny slid into their seats at the Hufflepuff table. A rumor was buzzing about the castle that there was something going on tonight, but nobody seemed to know what.

As they settled into their seats, Laun entered the Great Hall. Danny poked Tommy in the arm and motioned to the door. The Slytherin Prefect looked at his house table with a sigh. Grinning at each other, the Gentlemen stood and walked over to Laun. Each grabbing an arm, they led him to where their friends were seated.

“Come on, Laun. You don’t have to sit with the rest of the snakes every day, do you?”

“As a Slytherin, I must say,” he tossed an arm around Tom’s shoulder, “with enemies like you guys, who needs friends?” They all laughed as Laun settled into the table between next to Lando with Tommy ...

Tommy year 6 avie1The rain tapped against the frosted windows of the tower that Tommy and Danny had taken as their thinking place. With all the extra homework that had been dumped on Tommy since the beginning of term, Tom had taken to sneaking up here in the early evenings as it was the only place he knew would be quiet enough to study without interference. He breathed in a heavy sigh as he cracked open Guide to Advanced Transfiguration and started reading and taking notes. Tom had gotten himself so involved in the chapter, that he didn’t even hear the door open.

Danny walked in, two arithmancy texts balanced on his left index finger. He too was looking for a secluded place to study, but instead of seeking quiet, he was looking for a degree of secrecy...

Orlando year 6 avie1Orlando MacFoozle trotted up the steps with little more than a look over his shoulder. He was aware enough of his surroundings. He was careful enough to make sure that nobody noticed him as he headed down the hall. Over the years he’d grown a knack for going unnoticed even when others were around. It was handy skill to have in his line of work, that work being general “sneakiness”.

Rounding the corner there was a trio Ravenclaws heading his way, but beyond that the hall was empty. The Hufflepuff seemed to pay them no mind as they passed each other. Not even a smile or a “Hey”. Instead he shot a casual wink to the tapestry of Barnabas the Barmy and let the Ravenclaws go about their business...

Nicolette year 6 avie1Danny sat at the common room table, candles lit and books piled about. It was late at night and most of the students were snug in bed, which was how the Quidditch captain wanted it. He was known around the school for his lack of determination in his scholastic endeavours, but last year’s confinement during the lead up to OWLs left him with nothing to do but study, and his marks were amazing. So he decided to do some studying, but covertly.

He had just finished going over the Potions homework and was moving on to Transfiguration when he decided it was time to take a break. Rubbing his eyes, he slid his chair back.

Speaking from the stairway door she had been filling for the past ten minutes, Nicolette announced her presence to her brother...

Danny year 6 avie1Broom on his shoulder, Danny walked onto the pitch followed by Rose. He looked over the assembled returning players and new hopefuls. “Hey, guys. Thanks for coming out. I appreciate the turnout,” he said with a smile on his face. Glancing at Nicolette, he added, “especially those who came out to lend a little extra competition. I know it’s a bit odd having me as captain, but I promise I’ll do my best to lead the team and to listen to your concerns.”

A series of murmurs went through the Ravenclaws in attendance, a few even shooting questioning glances at Professor Flitwick who sat in the stands, watching over the group. They were unsure about Danny as their captain, both due to his inexperience on the pitch as well as the lingering shadow of last year.

The team captain tossed a Quaffle to ...

Rose year 6 avie1Tommy gave a large yawn as he waited for Nicolette. It had been a late night the night before, he and Céilidh had been running plays back and forth till about midnight, and then when he finally got to bed he lay there for what seemed like forever. Tommy was a very intelligent wizard, but the NEWT level classes, and their workload had left the Gryffindor’s mind reeling. Marus gave an annoyed squawk as he nipped at Tom’s finger, tired of being ignored.

“Alright, sorry,” Tom grumbled, “do you really have to be so needy?”

The bird hooted as it looked back at Tom with an aggravated look.

“I know, I know,” Tom rubbed the bird on the head lovingly, “I apologize, this first week has just been tough. Tougher than usual,” he chuckled.

The door to the owlry opened behind him...
