Eddy sat on the fire escape of his brownstone. Leaving Viv at her apartment had been one of the hardest things he’d ever done, but this was something he had to listen to by himself. He’d tell her everything, of course, but if it was bad, he didn’t want her to see his initial reaction.
On the third pass, with great hesitation, Eddy dropped the data stick into the reader. He reviewed everything it had to tell him, twice. The information he’d wanted was all there… and then some. One word came up several times, though, and it was the last word he’d wanted to be there: “Vega.”
Great. he thought, his face growing dark. He’d had the discussion with Viv, of course, but he hadn’t really expected that it would come into play so soon. If that name was involved, the name “Lexa” would be involved as well. And that meant danger not only for him, but for Vivian. Unless he could keep her out of Lexa’s appointment book.
But there was no way he was going to avoid seeing her, and eventually that information would get back to Lexa. Hell, if Lexa and Begnini were working together, she might already know that Kardiac had a Fox in his life. That would be bad… but it was something he’d have to worry about later.
For now, it was time to get back to Viv’s. He had a lot to tell her before the “team” meeting tonight. So he climbed back into his loft, grabbed a spare “uniform” and stuffed it in a backpack with some extra clothes, and headed towards the East Side. I’ve got one good thing in my life, and I’m not letting Lexa take it from me, he thought as he sped off. But that doesn’t mean I’m not going to spend as much time with her now as I possibly can.
