STAR WARS: GALACTIC TALES – BETWEEN THE EMPIRE AND THE REBELLION 1.42

diva_avBronze slippered feet padded across the ship’s deck as Tiila made her way to the ship’s spa to prepare for the evening’s events. A classy little parlor called Celestial Wellness on the far east side of the ship was her destination as she traversed the hallways of the Princess. The ache for some well needed pampering resonated through her. She needed something to ease the doubt that was fogging her thoughts. She’d never influenced a group even a fraction of the one she had before her but she wasn’t about to let the others know that.

The smell of botanicles let her know she was near and as she turned a corner the vision of a proper salon put a genuine smile on her lips that lingered until she caught another, far less welcome sight. That horrid little Theelin had apparently had the same idea...

STAR WARS: GALACTIC TALES – BETWEEN THE EMPIRE AND THE REBELLION 1.41

trey_avSien’avao watched “Xeran Agri” and his women walk away from the sabaac table before excusing herself. She walked away, several eyes traveling with her as she went.

As she walked into the hallway leading to the suites, she cast several glances over her shoulder, making sure she wasn’t followed. Lithely moving up the stairs, the slipped through the door of a small suite.

Gathered inside were four others. She walked over to the minibar and mixed a drink. “I made contact with Baron Agri. He’s something.” She slid a small disk across the low table to the boss.

The blue-green Nautolan tapped the disk and watched the hologram of “Agri” which sprang to life.”He’s not a Baron. His name’s not Agri. And, yes. I know he’s something. We… worked together for a while.”

A tall, dark-haired human snorted ...

STAR WARS: GALACTIC TALES – BETWEEN THE EMPIRE AND THE REBELLION 1.40

tiila_avThe breathtaking monotony of space suddenly gave way as the Passion’s Flame approached the luxury liner. The massive ship loomed large through the transparasteel viewport, dwarfing the yacht as they drew closer to the hangar bay. Aidenne’s hand rested lightly on Bralor’s shoulder as he maneuvered the ship toward their destination. The vibrations of the engine shifted then faded away as the primary engines were shut down, leaving the Flame to coast into the wide open bay.

Glancing down at her hand, the Diva’s lips curled into a small smile. For a moment her mottled skin took on a blue tint as they passed through the doorway with room to spare...

STAR WARS: GALACTIC TALES – BETWEEN THE EMPIRE AND THE REBELLION 1.39

bralor_avBralor pushed back from the controls, letting the unlocked chair swing out and around. Everything was set. He had made contact with the cruise ship and they had accepted their request for docking. It would be a few short moments before they would board and join the rest of their band of thieves who were already in place. Then the challenge would begin, and they would see just how reckless they were, taking a ragtag group of novices on such a large job. As he stood, he did his best to forget how short they were on luck of late, and how much they would no doubt require.

The Soul would take care of itself for a few. It was prepped just to reach orbit and hold position so Bralor could bring it in all the way by hand. But first there were things to be done. Important things.

He ducked through t...

STAR WARS: GALACTIC TALES – BETWEEN THE EMPIRE AND THE REBELLION 1.38

arden_avTrey marveled at the varied species and classes that populated the casino. Gambling establishments were one of the last great melting pots of the Empire. Where else could you find a mix of dirt farmers, scoundrels, politicos, CorSec executives, royalty and nobility from across the galaxy mixing freely, each eager to take the others’ money, and all ready to gleefully fork their credits over to the House.

Even the thieving last son of a fallen house, pretending to be something he isn’t fits in, he reflected. Of course, his gorgeous young pilot helped with the illusion. He looked at Arden and smiled. For his trouble he received an elbow in the ribs. “Time for you to play.”

“No it isn’t. The tournament doesn’t start for two more days.” the thief said with a frown.

Rolling her eyes, Arden gave...

STAR WARS: GALACTIC TALES – BETWEEN THE EMPIRE AND THE REBELLION 1.37

diva_avThe staccato thumps of meat against the padded leather of the training bag echoed through the empty cargo hold of the ship. Krynn stood clad only in glistening sweat from the waist up as he danced on the durasteel plate floor in his black boots. A wobbling drip of sweat hung on his nose tip as he slammed a fist wrapped in cloth against the bag again as the diva watched from across the room reclined luxuriously across the tops of some crates doubling as a lounge.

Krynn snarled at the bag as he lost himself in the rhythm of his blows and the dull ache burning his body. He was driven to be ready for the upcoming mission. He pushed himself focusing the pain back into the bag. He ground his teeth making the ache fuel his anger, and using that to drive the engine of his body faster and harder.

STAR WARS: GALACTIC TALES – BETWEEN THE EMPIRE AND THE REBELLION 1.36

tiila_avWell?” Bralor walked side by side with Rai Kitt down the plank to where The Soul was parked. Kitt was a gruff old man with a wild gray stubble that made Bralor’s five o’clock shadow seem manicured. The embery end of his cigarra clamped between his teeth gave a thick embery glow as he took a long puff on it. The smoke that curled up over his face, wavered slightly as he took the stub from his mouth and used it as a pointer. “Damn good job if you ask me. Way more than the price I let you sucker me in to.”

Aside from the make and model and mild modifications of the YT-2000 freighter, The Free Flying Soul was nearly unrecognizable with its new orange accents. Bralor wasn’t sure what Arden would say when she saw it, but it was part of the plan...

trey_avThe Soul was away, leaving Trey a twinge of regret as neither he nor his pilot were aboard. But the time for worry was past, and Vullif walked into the main boarding bay of the Linathi Princess a great smile breaking across his face. “Ah, my dear ladies! Have you ever seen a more dull entryway? I swear, father’s washroom has a more impressive flooring.” His shoes clicked against the Wayland marble tiles. “Come along, let’s find a porter to show us to our staterooms.”

“What the hell is the matter with you?” Arden said out of the corner of her mouth as she tottered on the heels. The diva taught her to walk on a flat surface in them but an incline was a different matter all together.

“It’s called a cover identity,” Trey whispered back...

krynn_avThe metal floor was painfully cold beneath her feet but at least her footsteps didn’t echo through the halls like Bralor’s. Though she liked to think that she knew almost every inch of the Soul, Aidenne rarely ventured down onto the lower deck. She’d never had a reason before.

Dressed in a simple, almost utilitarian, black jumpsuit, a far cry from the dresses she’d soon wear as a Diva about to perform, she paused just outside the door to Krynn’s room. Her hand lifted, prepared to knock, then drifted back to her side. She could have told herself that such hesitation was natural. After all, people usually came to her. But she was seeking him out without even fully understanding why, only knowing that she was troubled and he was both a cause and a comfort.

A small smile tugged at the corner...

bralor_av“I think we can meet somewhere in the middle, Rai.” Bralor crossed his arms over his chest, looking down at the holovid. “I’m good for it. 780.” The old man groaned and appeared to slump back in a chair. The clone leaned on the console. “You owe me.”

The image of the older man scowled, and flickered with static as he shook his head. “Taking advantage of an old man, Bralor?”

“You’re still making money on this deal.”

“This is how you want to call in your marker?”

A grin split Bralor’s face. “I knew you’d come around.” He stood upright, stretching to his full height.”I’ll radio when we’re there.”

“How long?”

“Not too long,” he replied. “One stop and we’re on our way.”

The man nodded and the feed was cut...
