STAR WARS: GALACTIC TALES – BETWEEN THE EMPIRE AND THE REBELLION 1.28

krynn_avKrynn was in his room lying on his bed quietly. He was there most of the time when he wasn’t on duty, but this time he was waiting. He had started the ship records searching for information on what the Mandalorian had pushed him about.

That was when he heard the sound. It was almost like a ticking, and at first he ignored it. He focused on the screen in his room as it progressed toward completion and then printing of the data it found. But then, he heard it again. A ticking sound like metal against metal. It was faint, and that was part of why it was so hard to ignore. It persisted and he started to look about the room sitting up.

When he searched nothing was to be found, and it was becoming maddening...

STAR WARS: GALACTIC TALES – BETWEEN THE EMPIRE AND THE REBELLION 1.25

krynn_avHe stepped out and closed the door. The delicate glass bottle sparkled as it was lifted toward the light. Its contents, a purple liquid so dark it was almost black, shifted slightly as the tiny Diva examined it critically. The color was one of her favorites, sophisticated and mysterious… and laced with Malkite themfar. “These three are poisons.” She set the bottle down next to a somewhat smaller golden one and deep ruby red one. “Not that I expect to catch you using my nail polish anytime soon.” Glancing over her shoulder, she gave her companion a wicked smirk. “But I’d advise against giving me a reason to scratch you while I’m wearing any of this.”

She continued on, filling the silence in the room with her almost instructional tone...

STAR WARS: GALACTIC TALES – BETWEEN THE EMPIRE AND THE REBELLION 1.23

diva_avTrey walked into the lounge dressed in an outfit which made him look almost like nobility. The Soul had just set down in a docking bay in a better area of Nar Shaddaa and Trey had a plan in mind that, true to form, he hadn’t completely disclosed to his whole crew. “You guys know the deal. Hang out here ’til you hear from me, okay?”

Arden bit her lower lip for a second before she spoke, “Trey are you sure this is a good idea?”

“Sure I’m sure,” he said with a lopsided grin. “Diva and I can handle things. And we might pick up a little spare change along the way. Depends on who I bump into. There’s a few guys floating around this moon who still owe me.”

“And some that want your head up the business end of a bantha,” her eyebrow raised.

Trey leaned against the bulkhead and shook his head...

STAR WARS: GALACTIC TALES – BETWEEN THE EMPIRE AND THE REBELLION 1.21

krynn_avKnowing she was dreaming didn’t seem to help at all; the sensation was far too real. Aidenne could feel the collar around her neck, the chain, warmed by her skin, hung heavy down her back. She could sing here, but only the bawdy songs that entertained her master, his guests and, on occasion, her fellow slaves. But they were just faces to her. There was no need to make friends. Girls died here all the time.

The silken sheets clung to her legs as she tried to escape the dream itself, the winding cloth turning into hands that restrained her. She whimpered in her sleep. This wasn’t her life anymore. She’d found a way out; it had only cost her a little.

But still there was a tug on the chain, pulling her forward to sing, dance, or die. She couldn’t break away...

STAR WARS: GALACTIC TALES – BETWEEN THE EMPIRE AND THE REBELLION 1.19

trey_avTrey, Arden, and Ures were gone. Generally an empty ship was cause for luxuriating in the privacy, shedding her clothes and carefully crafted proper persona for a more comfortable moment, however short it may be. But Nal Hutta was not a place to relax, and there were two mostly unfamiliar bodies on her ship.

Though her door was locked and she doubted sound would carry beyond the the Soul, Aidenne found her normal practices in these moments of solitude struggling to make it past her lips. Her voice would rise and swell, the song taking flight for a moment then fading away. Her other pursuits found similar disinterest, the tools of her trade partially reorganized then left to sit in their half random state...

STAR WARS: GALACTIC TALES – BETWEEN THE EMPIRE AND THE REBELLION 1.18

tiila_avIt had been a while since the meeting in the galley and Krynn had squared away his things in his room. He didn’t much care for too much down time. He liked to keep active, so he decided it was time to check back in with the captain. Walking down the halls of the ship he soon found himself outside Trey’s room. He tapped the door a but standing at ease waiting for a reply.

“It’s open” the voice shouted from inside.

Krynn opened the door and entered quickly closing it behind him. He stood just inside looking at Trey standing with his arms crossed behind him. He nodded to Trey saying, “Captain.”

Vullif shook his head. “If you’re going to be riding on my ship, you’re going to have to blend in. It’s Trey.” He motioned to a chair beside his desk. “Have a chair.”

Krynn nodded, “Yes, captain, Trey ...

STAR WARS: GALACTIC TALES – BETWEEN THE EMPIRE AND THE REBELLION 1.17

arden_avAs Trey left the lounge followed by Arden, Krynn looked at Aidenne and asked, “Relax..?” This was strange. The briefing had lasted less than ten minutes, and they were already told to relax. This was much different than what he was used to.

“Relax, Krynn. Take this time to do something enjoyable.” The Diva’s golden eyes were filled with a certain sense of resignation. “You’re not going to get more explicit orders here.”

Krynn looked dejected, and sighed. “Very well.” He looked around the room at the others sizing them up. “Perhaps you should tell me who these people are and what roles they service on the vessel?”

The doors to Trey’s quarters slid open, “Are you nuts?” Arden spat as the door shut behind her, “The six people on this ship versus a whole luxury cruiser filled with guards?” Sh...

STAR WARS: GALACTIC TALES – BETWEEN THE EMPIRE AND THE REBELLION 1.16

trey_avVullif sat on the bed, his head against the metal bulkhead, for some time after Bralor left his quarters. His eyes were closed and his breathing slow and regular, but the occasional twitch at the corner of his mouth or lift of an eyebrow belied something going on in his mind.

Eventually, his eyes opened and he moved to his desk, pushing the half-empty bottle aside. Picking up his personal datapad, he checked some news items, then checked through some other encrypted information he had on the device. Satisfied, he stood and pushed the metal chair under the desk, carrying the datapad with him as he pressed the intercom button next to his door.

“Hey, Arden. How long ’til we get to Durga’s interrogation?”

A voice tinged with static came back. “A couple hours. Why?”

With a smile, Trey clicked ...

STAR WARS: GALACTIC TALES – BETWEEN THE EMPIRE AND THE REBELLION 1.15

krynn_avKrynn sat quietly in the room where he was told enjoying the quiet of the ship at rest and wondering what would be the reward for his long patience. Casually he looked about the room again. He had spent hours here waiting, and he was content to wait hours more. He casually looked to his side pulling open a drawer and examining the contents. Looking at how the diva arranged her things, and exploring what things she valued by their ease of access and care. He looked about the drawer at silken lacy garments that seemed like new without exception. He casually lifted one to notice a large collection of small bottles and vials assorted neatly next to a wooden box. As he saw the vials he couldn’t help but curl a small smile.

Still somewhat on edge from her discussion with Arden, Aidenne paused in...

trey_av“So let me get this straight,” Trey said as he leaned against the bulkhead massaging his temples.”You guys got stuck with bad intel, too?”

Bralor nodded. “Yeah. The safe was bone dry.”

“Great. And all I got was her.”

“You know Arden’s right,” Bralor slid down into table “two empty hands tonight puts us a might short on a payment that’s already almost late.”

“So it was a bad night?” Diva Aidenne didn’t pause as she stepped into the room, her tall, blue-skinned bag carrier right behind her. “Here I was hoping we’d all have victory stories to share.”

“Aidenne,” Bralor smiled looking up on the diva, “please tell me a man died tonight.”

“Welcome back, Diva.” Vullif had a frown on his face. “Who’s your new sidekick?”

Aidenne ignored Trey’s question for the moment. “Yes, a man died...
