Agents of MAGIC – Hogwarts Year 6: The Ties That Bind 2.83

Laun year 6 avie“I wonder who’ll be teaching class? I haven’t heard any announcements…” Laun mused as he, Rose and Tom wandered to the dungeon.

“Dunno.” Tom shrugged “Did you hear anything about who would be head of Slytherin? Or even how the Professor is?”

“Professor Qasim is acting head of Slytherin,” Laun stifled a grin, “As for Professor Snape, I don’t know much but I hear that he is stable.”

Rose shifted the books in her arms so she could grab a curl of golden hair. “I know you need a head of your house. And we need a teacher… but… it’s so soon. Poor Professor Snape. He’ll be back as soon as he’s better, right?”

“I hope so!”

“Ma said he wis bad aff still.” Céilidh came from behind wrapping her arms around Tom’s waist. “Thay still havnae figured oot wha potion hit him.”

“Well I want to go on record a...

Danny year 6 avie1The night’s wind whipping across the surface of the Black Lake had cleared it of snow, leaving only a thick sheet of ice to glisten in the cold morning sun. It was Saturday and with no classes to deal with, Orlando and Dan had decided to throw together a bit of recreation for their friends, and were heading down early to set up the equipment.

Using their wands to clear a path from the castle to the lake, the two young men also carried a large open-topped chest between them. Non-flying broomsticks stuck out of the box at different angles. “Whaur d’ye kin?”

The Hufflepuff looked around, then pointed to an small cove on the edge of the lake. “Thare. Plenty o’ room, ice looks guid an’ thick.”

Walking down to the frozen cove, they set the box down and began to work...

Laun year 6 avie“Ah Hogwarts!” Laun said cheerily as he and his luggage barged through the great doors. He was followed quickly by the more subdued entrance of Samantha Monkshood.

“So… you were saying? How was the holiday?”

“I’m not sure I should tell you.” Laun blushed.

“That good?”

“That bad… and that good… but so bad… I mean telling you would be bragging, rubbing it in as it were.”

“How so?”

“It’s only been a little while.” Laun said quietly.

“But I’m not Shelley…”

“Still it feels wrong to be happy about it. I broke her heart.”

“You have a right to be happy, and you would have just been leading her on.”

“I guess.”

“So… How was it?” Sam poked him in the chest.

Laun looked around quickly and once he was sure that it was safe a wide grin spread across his face.

“It was AMAZING! We watched television! I ha...

Danny year 6 avie1The Great Hall was decked with greenery and ribbons, as it always was for the Christmas feast. A light snow was falling throughout the room as excited students poured in for their last Hogwarts meal before the Holiday.

“I love Hogwarts at Christmas.”Tommy smiled. He threw his arm around his girlfriend and squeezed her tightly. “It’ll be interesting to see what Professor Flitwick has cooked up. The can-caning suits of armor last year will be tough to top.”

“Aye,” Céilidh agreed, snaking her arm around Tommy’s waist. “Ah thought Sur Cadogan wid ne’er stop complaining that na proper knight wid be caught deid daein’ something lik’ that.”

Tom laughed “When he challenged the Professor to a joust of honor, I thought I was going to die.”

“Deck the halls with boughs of holly!” Laun entered the gr...

Laun year 6 avie“Now that you all have finished,” the Potions Master swept through the room, “please clean out your cauldrons and return the potion ingredients.”

As the bell for the end of class rang at the end of seventh year N.E.W.T. potions class, the Professor spoke up again. “As this is the last class before Christmas break, I will require three feet of parchment on class A tradable materials, all of their uses, and the dangers of each one.”

A collective groan covered the room over the sounds of book bags being filled.

“Professor.” Katherine Tarbell walked up to the Professor as the seventh years filed out.

Snape gave out an exasperated sigh. “What is it Miss Tarbell?”

“Professor,” she said, her typical know-it-all tone mixed with a healthy amount of respect for the Potions Master...

Nicolette year 6 avie1Helena wove through the Slytherin chasers as she shot toward the goal. She glanced around, then pulled up short and fired a quick pass to Danny. As he evaded the Slytherins, Alfie Gallacher pulled up alongside him and batted away first one bludger, then the other.

Danny spotted Owen Mellan shooting for the goal and with a shout of “Hey Irish!” flung the ball to Owen, who juked left to draw Slytherin’s keeper out of position, then blasted right and hammered in a goal.

Nicolette Ainscough watched the game pass along, her chin resting in her palm, as usual. Quick eyes perpetually scanned the field for that little golden ball. She maintained just as much awareness of the whereabouts of her former friend, Mariella Raven.

Just as aware on the field was that Slytherin Seeker...

Danny year 6 avie1Danny sat on his bunk, alone in the boys’ dorm. His eyes closed, it would have looked the rest of the world like he was relaxed, possibly even sleeping if not for the wand in his hand, moving through blocks and attacks His first duel in the tournament was imminent and he was determined to win.

His first opponent was Jonathan Lawrence, son of Robert Lawrence, one of the lead dueling instructors for the Auror training program. While Danny had never seen John duel, he’d heard of Robert’s skill from his mother and aunt Rhane. But even if Johnny learned everything his Dad had to teach, Dan was confident he had learned some new tricks over the summer.

Rose entered the dormitory just in time to see a smile tug at the corner of Danny’s mouth as he twirled his wand in an unusual pattern...

Orlando year 6 avie1Even in the Dungeon of the Hufflepuff boys dorm the early light of morning managed to bleed through the high windows that grew out of the ground from the outside of the castle. For countless mornings that bright yellow light was an irritant that Orlando MacFoozle would block out by trying to smother himself under his own pillow. Not this morning though. Orlando had been awake for a almost an hour, the last forty minutes of which he had spent staring at the shadows of the wooden beams above his head.

He’d slipped his feet into his trainers and tied them tight. He filled his pocket with a knut, his father’s watch, and the worn notebook that he carried everywhere. He snagged a black hooded jumper and his wand and silently slipped out into the chilly dungeon halls of Hogwarts Castle...

Laun year 6 avieLaun Orris-Whitmoor was a young man with many attributes. One of these was passion, everything he cared about, he cared about with everything he had. Another of these attributes was his mind, wide open to the universe and all of its wondrous possibilities. Sometimes these attributes took him to strange places, so it was lucky that another attribute was his capacity to make friends. People who care whether he goes too far or whether he’s putting himself in danger. Almost none of these people were of his own Slytherin house in Hogwarts though, no; his friends came from all four houses...

Danny year 6 avie1Danny stood in the locker room with the Ravenclaw team assembled before him. “All right, team. We’ve practiced hard and we’ve come a long way since tryouts, thanks in no small part to our both our manager,” He nodded to Ambrosia, standing next to him with her clipboard at the ready, “and to our practice squad. You guys have improved your own game immensely, and in doing so forced the rest of us to keep pace.” This time, the Ravenclaw captain nodded at a few players seated to his right.

“But the Hufflepuff team is going to be good, too. Samantha and her team are good, and let’s face it, she’s been at this game longer than I have.” He grinned, as a couple of the team members chuckled, remembering Danny’s performance on a broom in his early years at Hogwarts.

Rose, as team manager, opened he...
