Agents of MAGIC – Hogwarts Year 6: Lines Drawn and Lies Told 3.15

Rose year 6 avie1Danny woke early on Tuesday, well before the sun had come up. On an ordinary day he would still be sprawled under his covers, but today wasn’t an ordinary day. It was Valentines Day, and more importantly it was Ambrosia Sheridan’s birthday. And Danny had a plan.

Quietly he dug into his trunk and pulled out a heart-shaped card. He had been working on this for the last two weeks, and it was time to get things started. He had considered sending Monkey in to deliver the first note, but decided against it. He wanted to do it all himself, and he knew exactly how he would accomplish it.

With a slight twisting shudder, the Ravenclaw’s form morphed into that of a squirrel...

Orlando year 6 avie1“This does not look good.” Bill sighed as he leaned against the fireplace in Professor McGonagall’s office, breaking the almost ten minutes of silence since they entered the room. “What were you three thinking?”

“Not exactly planning this, Bill.” Tom said with his head in his palms.

“Are you sure it was Liam? It was dark in there… could you have been mistaken?” Laun said, still making consistent eye contact with Tom.

“No, it was him.” Tom looked away toward the window. “I know it was.”

“That presents a problem,” Laun sighed, “I was standing closer to him than I am to you now and I am just as sure.”

“Oor wands wis lit.” Orlando wiped his sooty brow with the sleeve of his jumper. It smelled of smoke. “We keeked his face. He drew oan us an ken wha we wis. It wis the lad.”

Or was it? He re ...

Céilidh year 6 avie1“Whaur dae ye reck it gaes?” Lando inquired as she caught up with him.

“Weel…” She looked around, getting her bearings from the way they had come. The tunnel itself had gotten wider and taller since it had become lined with dirt and roots. “A reck we’re…” her lips puckered as if she had been chewing a lemon, “a wee bit intae the ferbiddin forest.”

Not watching where she was going, she ran into the back of the Hufflepuff who had stopped. “Whit?”

“Th’ path forks… ”

He cast lumos to get them a better look. His wand passed between the two options.

“Which wey dae we gae than?”

Foozle scratched at the bit of stubble on his chin. “This wey, ” he replied and went to the right. Hesitating just a moment, his sister followed suit.

They hadn’t gotten far before Céilidh stopped...

Tommy year 6 avie1Liam passed the three sixth years and turned the corner toward the main staircase.

The three gave each other a knowing glance, then immediately followed the Ravenclaw seventh year up the stairs. Lando’s camouflaging charm coupled with Tom’s silencing charm allowed the trio to readily maintain their tail on Liddell. They were able to follow so closely that they nearly ran square into their quarry when he suddenly stopped. Standing before an oddly located mirror, Liddell cast a furtive glance up one end of the hallway and down the other before muttering something.

His words were a sibilant stream that had a collective chilling effect on the three sixth years. The jumble of h and s sounds also had something of a commanding effect as the mirror Liddell faced slowly started to shimmer...

Laun year 6 avie“You know,” Bill said twirling his wand in between his fingers, “I thought this prefect thing would be terrific but these late night patrols really cut into study time.”

“I think they are fun! You get to see the ghosts wafting about and I feel kind of like a junior auror; sleuthing and protecting the general public! I don’t study that much anyways” Laun laughed as he used his dimly lit wand to make designs in the air.

“So is that what you’ve finally decided to do after school?” Bill yawned, “Go into Auror training?”

“I’m not sure yet, I may go into muggle studies actually. That’s something I’ve been thinking about.”

“Yeah?” Bill chuckled. “My dad would love that. He loves anything muggles,” Bill shrugged, “I don’t really get it myself.”

“I think they’re fascinating! You know they have a di...

Orlando year 6 avie1Though Hogwarts in February was certainly no isle of Crete, and there was–most likely–no large beast waiting at the end of the corridors to devour her, Rose couldn’t help but feel a tiny bit like Theseus as she worked on her latest assignment from Professor Qasim. Despite some lingering misgivings about the invasion of privacy, she tiny blonde had worked diligently to study a near-stranger’s life and connections.

Gilly Merrywater, a second year Ravenclaw, was a nice enough boy. He’d certainly felt no hesitation to talk with an older housemate about his family and friends while they’d studied near each other in the common room one night...

Danny year 6 avie1Tommy sat on the edge of Danny’s bed and took a look around hospital wing. Kat had been taken by her parents to St. Mungo’s a few hours earlier. “So lad,” he turned back to Danny, giving the American Scot a sideways smile, “How you feeling?”

The Ravenclaw blinked slowly and yawned as he looked back and forth between his friends. “Whit th’ Hell happened?” he asked his brothers. “Ah remember the Great Hall but…” He looked down at his hands, flexing his fingers experimentally. The movement was jerky, almost like a nervous twitch. “Whit happened?”

“Ye wis poisoned.” Orlando was seated in a chair beside the hospital bed, slouched so low his head rested on the back of it. “The lat o ye. It wis slipped intae a few o the dishes an…” His shoulders shrugged a little...

Orlando year 6 avie1The kitchens were in their standard amount of chaos and fantastic smells as Tommy and Orlando opened its door and slipped inside.

“Gerti’s Gentlemen!” The little house elf Gerti squealed at the sight of them, but with with notably less delight than they were accustomed. She rushed to the boys, “What can old Gerti do for her gentlemen?”

Tom smiled and hugged the little house elf. “Gerti, we’re actually here about what happened during lunch today.”

“Oh terrible,” Gerti rubbed her hands in the tea towel she wore. “Never, never has that happened as long as Gerti has been at Hogwarts.” As she said this tears welled up in her large eyes.

Orlando crouched down beside the matronly elf. “Thare, thare, guidwif,” he said and put an arm around her shoulders...

Rose year 6 avie1Forster was doing his usual mid morning rounds. Having a free period meant he could help patrol the halls, which he was more than happy to do. He flipped his wand off-handedly as he walked down the Defense Against the Dark Arts corridor.

It was quiet down the hall, with no mid morning classes, but that was usually when trouble could happen. As he walked down, he thought he heard the sounds of yelling toward Professor Qasim’s office. Curious as to what would be causing the all the yelling, The Hufflepuff prefect crept closer to the Professor’s door. The closer he got to the door, the louder he felt his footsteps got. He started to shuffle his feet, sliding along the stone more and more toward the door...

Laun year 6 avieQasim sat in his office. The flaming sconces on the wall flickered the gently quivering spots of light around, but the room remained heavy with its dark shadows. The Defence Against the Dark Arts professor steepled his fingers and looked down at the piece of parchment on his desk. His nostrils flared a little as he took a deep breath and sighed it away.

A knock rang from his door. “Come in.” He did not look up.

“You sent for us, Professor?” Tommy stepped into the room followed closely by Laun Orris-Whitmoor.

“I did.” Amen Qasim gestured to the chairs in front of him with an open palm. “Sit. Please.”

Laun took a seat quickly and Tom followed suit.

“What can we do for you, Professor?” Laun smiled widely.

Qasim folded his hands in front of him and looked at the two young men...
