STAR WARS: GALACTIC TALES – BETWEEN THE EMPIRE AND THE REBELLION 1.62

arden_av“We need to talk Trey.” Arden said hollowly as she entered the common room of the Soul. The Free Flying Soul. What a joke she thought to herself as she watched Trey turn to face her from his own conversation with Nik. Her own soul was a damn sight far from being free. She gave Nik a withering look that she knew her newest co-pilot would definitely understand as get lost and the little Jawa made himself exceedingly scarce.

Arden sat down in the chair. She could already feel her eyes burn as she looked at Trey trying to get the words to form. “Trey I…”

“This whole thing stinks of bantha poodoo.” Bralor strode in from the cargo hold, unlashing his helmet and pulling it off. “I’ve got a bad feeling-”

He stopped and looked at Trey and Arden. He read the expressions on their faces...

STAR WARS: GALACTIC TALES – BETWEEN THE EMPIRE AND THE REBELLION 1.61

tiila_avThe Free Flying Soul’s gangplank dropped down bleeding light up into the hanger. Bralor stood at the back of its mouth in his full beskar’gam. He could make out the feet of the personal guards that had come out to escort their arrival. He turned to the woman beside him. “You know where we are.”

Tiila Sadi’s fingers fidgeted momentarily with the blue jewel that hung from her neck, her pink thumb running back and forth over its elegantly smooth cut. She didn’t look at him but simply nodded.

His arm fell beside one of the DC’s that hung from his hips. “Want me to see you down?”

With a slow breath, she nodded again. “Arriving without some entourage is very low class.” She gave a half-smile, still facing the open door. “And so they know what’s coming when I change my mind...

STAR WARS: GALACTIC TALES – BETWEEN THE EMPIRE AND THE REBELLION 1.60

bralor_avBralor’s fingers steepled under his chin and stared back at the blank monitor. There had been no word from Aidene since her surprise departure with Krynn while they had been dealing with the Hutt. All of attempts to receive any word on Zann had come up empty, but Tyber Zann wasn’t the sort to give any details he didn’t care for you to know. That, of course, had done wonders for his own mood and assured the promise that his next encounter with the crime lord would end with nice scar to intersect the one he already had, leaving a nice little cross-hair between his eyes.

He sighed and pushed the screen away, getting to his feet and leaving his quarters.

The mood on the ship had been shaky at best. Tiila had barely left her quarters since launching for Osarian, if she had at all...

STAR WARS: GALACTIC TALES – BETWEEN THE EMPIRE AND THE REBELLION 1.58

arden_av“Just letting everyone know we are about to drop out of hyperspace near Nal Hutta.” Arden’s voice crackled over the Soul’s com system. “We should be…” she was cut off by nervous squeaks and chattering.

“No we are not going to come out of hyperspace in the middle of an asteroid!” the com clicked off.

There was the hard chunk of metal locks disengaging from behind her and the cabin door swung open. Arden looked back over her shoulder. Bralor stood in the threshold, the soft blue glow of hyperspace light falling over his face and dark cloak. His helmet hung at the end of his arm.

“You sure you wanna just stand there for this?”

“Kid, I’ve stood in the airlock of a YV-545 as it dropped from hyperspace right inside orbit of of Haariden to be thrown into a space drop as the transport maneuvered a...

STAR WARS: GALACTIC TALES – BETWEEN THE EMPIRE AND THE REBELLION 1.57

tiila_avThe bottle of blush wine sat empty on the small table in the crew lounge and the others had returned to their quarters or occupied themselves with other things. Trey, however lingered in the common room.

“Trey…” There was dull thudding sound as the heavy bottom of the bottle came down on the table top. The thief’s eyes rose to find the former soldier standing there. “A word?”

The thief nodded. “This one of those private conversations?” he asked, a wry smile on his face.

“I dunno. Depends on how open you wanna be about future plans for the crew.” Bralor looked around the room and, finding it empty save the T3-E7 utility droid, set down a pair of squat glasses. “Prolly a moot point anyway. Doubt the droid’s gonna talk...

STAR WARS: GALACTIC TALES – BETWEEN THE EMPIRE AND THE REBELLION 1.54

kyra_avThe Soul was streaking through hyperspace en route to Nar Shada and Durga the Hutt. Trey watched the streaking grey nothing of Hyperspace flow by. Turning to his pilot, a smile crossed his face. “How do you feel, this close to freedom?”

“Why do I get the feeling the that with that one sentence,” the pilot chuckled, “the rug is gonna get pulled right on out.”

“You know what?” the thief said, eyebrow raised. “You worry too much.”

“And you don’t worry enough.” the pilot shot back.

Trey patted her shoulder. “C’mon,” he said, jerking his head toward the ship’s aft. “I managed to snag a nice bottle of Coruscant blush wine, pre-Imperial vintage. Gonna crack it open back in the lounge.”

“Yeah sure,” Arden smiled up at the head of the rag tag group.

Trey returned the smile...

STAR WARS: GALACTIC TALES – BETWEEN THE EMPIRE AND THE REBELLION 1.53

bralor_av“I’m telling you, I get a bad feeling every time I’m around him, Trey.” Having made sure they weren’t being pursued, they locked in their course and jumped into lightspeed. Now, the thief, the pilot, and the newbie sat around the common room sorting the loot and discussing their separate encounters.”There’s no emotion about him. He put a blaster bolt in that Imperial’s chest without blinking those red eyes. It’s… unsettling.”

“He was right though,” Trey shrugged as he examined a peculiarly faceted bloodstone, “If the Imp saw your face, it could have brought a whole heap of trouble down on the operation.”

“And when they realize that these are missing?” The redhead slid a stack of datasticks and flimsiplast in front of Trey.

The rogue flipped through the flimsi...

STAR WARS: GALACTIC TALES – BETWEEN THE EMPIRE AND THE REBELLION 1.52

diva_avThe chime rang with its sing-song charm through the lavish suite. Though they all were expecting it, it seemed to freeze them in place, glasses held mid-way to their mouths. Moments of truth seemed to have that effect on people. The moment held and second ring came from the door which seemed to cancel its predecessor’s spell.

“Who could that be?” Bralor set his squat glass, half emptied of its Corrillean ale, back onto the bar and reached for his helmet.

“Some overly adoring fan,” Aidenne chuckled, quickly falling back into her role after these few moments of relaxation. “Get rid of them for me.”

There was slight hiss of air as his helmet sealed itself. “Right.” The bodyguard unholstered one of the DC-17’s and moved to the door.

Jamming his thumb into the console it opened with a soft soun...

STAR WARS: GALACTIC TALES – BETWEEN THE EMPIRE AND THE REBELLION 1.51

arden_avNik was crawling through the bowels of the Princess… again. Even he had to admit that this was getting old, but he hoped the deflector coil that he had sticking out of his haversack would at least settle things with Jenks and let him get on with finding a new rock to hide under.

He wouldn’t be falling through the ceiling this time, at least… not by choice, of course. He preferred the ceiling for the most part… people tend to ignore thumps and scratching in the ventilation ducts as poor maintenance. Unfortunately, the sudden arrival of a maintenance crew in the space bay he’d been “shopping” in had forced him to take the first available escape route.

So, Nik was under the floor panels this time, which meant things were a lot trickier...

STAR WARS: GALACTIC TALES – BETWEEN THE EMPIRE AND THE REBELLION 1.50

kyra_av“I have been instructed that we are to start in the Executive Suite wing of Station 3.” The Chiss said, falling into step beside Kyra. His head turned, examining her from behind his helmet. Again that slightly unsettled feeling twisted in his stomach, almost as if continued close exposure to her were making him ill. “The ship’s utility droid provided the Diva’s Mandalorian with this.” He opened his fingers, revealing to her the data stick Bralor had given him back in the suite.

Kyra’s hand went for the stick, then hesitated, almost as if touching the Chiss would increase the feeling of unease she felt being in such close quarters with him. She forced herself to take the small device that was supposed to act like a master key to each of the staterooms...
